VT-NH Komen
Affiliate Welcomes First Executive Director
MANCHESTER, VT - On behalf
of the organization’s entire board, Deborah Peretz, President
of the Vermont-New Hampshire Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure,
is pleased to welcome Anne Janeway as the Affiliate’s first Executive
Director.
“This organization
has been shepherded, since 1993, entirely by volunteers, and they’ve
done an incredible job growing the Affiliate and expanding its reach.
When what used to be the Vermont Affiliate became the Vermont-New Hampshire
Affiliate, the ‘volunteer capital’ of the group got stretched
pretty thin… if we were to make an impact in New Hampshire, and
northern Vermont, which we’ve always wanted to do, we needed an
Executive Director with the organizational skills to make that happen.
We found that person in Anne.”
It was the reputation and
spirit of the annual Komen Race for the Cure – held each July
in Manchester, Vermont – combined with the dedication and teamwork
of its volunteer leadership that first attracted Anne to the position.
“I’m excited
to be a part of this organization,” said Janeway. “I’m
looking forward to the challenge of extending the Affiliate’s
strong local base of support for those actively battling breast cancer,
as well as breast cancer survivors, well beyond the region… I’ll
be working to strengthen our connections with northern Vermont, absolutely,
and, – and this is very important – establishing a separate
Race for the Cure somewhere in New Hampshire.”
Anne brings twenty years
of experience in educational administration, client relations, and fundraising
to the organization. Prior to joining the Komen organization, Anne served
as the alumni director of her alma mater Middlebury College, The Vermont
Law School, and Kimball Union Academy.
She lives in Norwich, Vermont
but has roots in South Londonderry and Stratton where she learned to
ski and race as a child. Her grandparents, the late Senator Edward G.
and Elinor Janeway, were active leaders in the community, instrumental
in starting Stratton Mountain and supporting local students, international
exchange, and the arts.
